I don’t know how I ever overlooked this, but it has been brought to my attention that many don’t know how to pronounce the name of my blog. I think most have figured out that my name is Sivan. If not, now you know & it’s nice to meet you 🙂
My full name (now) is Sivan Ayla Richards. However, prior to getting married I was Sivan Ayla Vardi. Sivan is pronounced: see-von. Ayla is pronounced: ay-la. It’s a lot easier than it looks. I always identified with my first and middle name, and luckily I branded myself off these two permanent names instead of getting my last name involved.
Naming a blog is so important. You really have to consider a lot of different variables when deciding on a name. Does it make sense? Will people get it? Will you outgrow it? Will you get sick of it? Is it just trendy? It is catchy without being cheesy?
Yeah…too much to think about. I can’t say I answered “correctly” to all of the above when selecting the name of my blog, but honestly, I’ll never get sick of it or outgrow it. People might not “get it” but I think after following along for about a week you will understand. While growing up my name was far too challenging for LA people and it often annoyed me to constantly have to spell it out, I couldn’t be happier to have a unique name now. I personally don’t know any Sivans and you can almost always guarantee that SivanAyla isn’t taken when creating a username for pretty much anything. Hey, I like to look at the glass half full!
