MY (VARIOUS) Tanning Routines
Obviously every single one is going to be Lux Unfiltered, but, now that we have so many different formats I thought I should outline which ones I use for what and how they fit into my tanning routine. Also, spoiler alert, we have some really exciting sunless tanners launching this year, I can’t wait! I want to preface this article by saying that for being the founder of a self-tanning brand, I’m truly the most low-maintenance person so it’s almost comical that these are the products I make. With that said, each product I develop has to be minimal effort otherwise I’d never use it.
If you are new or nervous to self-tanning, I promise this is your gateway to a natural-looking tan without the intimidating process or results. Everything is non-toxic, super hydrating, formulated with skincare grade ingredients, and uses custom luxury fragrances. Had to throw in my little spiel while we are here 😉
Okay let’s get into the routine(s).
For my face: I use our Nº12 Bronzing Face Drops pretty much every 2 days. I like to apply them directly into my palm (half a dropper-full) them apply to my face on TOP of my moisturizer. If you mix with moisturizer your results will be a lot more subtle. I usually see color within 2 hours and it continues to build. You can wear makeup over the drops, too. So I’ll apply, let it set for 5 mins, then go in with my makeup.
For my body, daily: When we are talking about regular maintenance, Nº32 Gradual Self-Tanning Cream is IT. It applies like a regular body cream, which makes the application super easy, mess free, and one less step (since you can replace your regular body cream with this). I’m currently *obsessed* with Nº32 Sculpting since it has our new fragrance (an even more elevated Sandalwood) and toning properties like peptides and caffeine.
When I have an event or photoshoot: I go straight for the big guns when I need a dark tan fast. Our Nº36 Tanning Mousse gives a stunning European-esque color that looks good on literally everyone! I personally use the Deep shade and apply with our mitt the night before and shower the next morning. But you could also apply in the AM then shower before your event that evening if you prefer to marinade during the day.
At a pool party or night out: This is one of those things you won’t realize you need until you try it. Our Nº10 Blurring Body Glow is insane for evening skin tone, blurring imperfections and adding a hint of bronze and shimmer. You’ll get immediate color payoff that washes off, so I guess I should clarify that I use this when I’m in a bikini and not going swimming. If using at night, I apply to skin that is showing like my collarbone, cleavage, legs, etc.
Hot tip from me, in order to keep your tan looking fresh and in tact, keep your body hydrated. Super important key for an even fade, too. Our Nº14 Body Conditioner is an absolute negotiable for me and now it also comes in Sculpting to match the gradual. This will become a luxury that you can’t live without, trust me. In between tanning days, make sure your skin is looking dewy and healthy to support your tan (real or fake!).
That about covers my go-to tanning routines. I realized I also have this older blog post (need to update since we’ve dropped new products since) that breaks down an example of my weekly tanning routine if you like specifics. As I mentioned, a few new things coming this year to add to this, but these are my staples. If you’re wanting to test our different fragrances you can drop into a Sephora and sample them, otherwise everything can be found online on our site, Sephora or Amazon!
