MY CABO Recs

We recently went to Cabo with some friends, and I got a lot of questions about where to stay, eat, and drink. Even after more than 10 trips to Cabo over the years, it’s still a go-to for an easy, quick trip. The culture, the food, the service, the sun…honestly can’t be beat. I feel like we’ve curated the dream trip at this point, so here’s everything I recommend.

P.S. For any San Diego / OC readers, we have been flying out of TJ directly to Cabo the past few trips, and it’s so much easier than dealing with customs in America. Look into this!

WHERE TO STAY:

One & Only Palmilla

If you’re going for a relaxed, more boutique-feeling hotel, this cannot be beat. This is closer to San Jose Del Cabo and the location is honestly perfection. You can swim at the beach there, which isn’t usual for Cabo, and this is a selling point for me. Beach > pool forever on vacation. On top of the location, the entire hotel’s aesthetic and detail is stunning. The service is next level, and it’s our favorite hotel at this point.

We played tennis a couple mornings this trip, which was great, so take advantage of all the amenities (they have golf, pickleball, kids club, etc). The spa was also 10/10. You must ask for Lisette if you go!

We loved the omakase dinner at the hotel last year, but I will say the rest of the food is meh, so I recommend getting off property for dinner. Breakfast and lunch are good, though.

I’m going on a girls’ trip later this year to Las Ventanas, so I’ll keep you posted on the comparison.

WHERE TO EAT & DRINK:

After trying out a lot of spots in Cabo, these are my current recommendations:

Arbol @ Las Ventanas – We decided to go here again this year because it’s that good. The food is incredible (think fresh seafood meets Indian meets Asian), and it’s a beautiful restaurant / vibe. You’ll definitely leave full, so we like going here on our last night. Book for sunset time so you can experience the restaurant go from daytime to nighttime.

P.S. We heard that Las Ventanas also has an Italian spot which we’ll try next time.

Acre / Flora Farms – I’d been to Flora Farms, which is fun for a group thing and pretty good food, but this year we decided to try Acre for the first time. It’s pretty far out from the hotels (especially if you’re in Cabo San Lucas), but it’s a cool jungly vibe. We thought the appetizers were incredible! The mains were just whatever. Nothing special. I’d order all the apps and sides next time.

Edith’s – Still one of the best food experiences, IMO. We didn’t make it here on this trip, but I love going for lunch.

Rosa Negra – I was so excited to see Rosa Negra come to Cabo because I felt like they were missing something like this. This is definitely the spot if you want a party night (think dancing on chairs and sparklers) without dealing with the Spring Break bars in downtown Cabo. The food was great, too, so everyone enjoyed. There’s also a private Speakeasy underneath the restaurant for after-hours. Highly recommend!
