My Updated Tanning Routine
Obviously I share a lot of my beauty routines on my IG Stories, but thought it would be good to document my full tanning process and answer some of the frequently asked questions in a post so it’s always easily accessible. This also serves as your reminder to indulge in some self-care, whatever that means to you, sometime soon. For me, having a tan (& hydrated skin in general) makes me feel my most confident so it’s actually important for me to do things like self-tan.
Okay, let’s dive into it. If I missed anything feel free to leave a comment down below OR just send me a DM!
For the sake of ease, let’s call Day 1 Monday.
Monday: Exfoliate in the shower, focusing on areas like my knees, elbows, and feet. I use Nº28 Exfoliating Body Polish. Out of the shower, I apply Nº32 Hydrating Self-Tanning Cream all over my body. Wait 5-10 minutes for my skin to dry then get dressed for the day. For my face, I use Nº12 Bronzing Face Drops (5-6 drops) on top of my moisturizer.
Tuesday: Apply Nº32 Hydrating Self-Tanning Cream again to build a deeper color. Depending on how much color I want on my face, I might use Nº12 Bronzing Face Drops again or just skip.
Wednesday: I don’t self-tan again. Instead, I’ll use Nº14 Conditioning Body Cream all over to keep my skin super hydrated. This helps prolong your color, as it prevents your skin from cracking.
Thursday: Apply Nº32 Hydrating Self-Tanning Cream to maintain my color. I will also do 5-6 drops of Nº12 over my face moisturizer to keep my color and glow alive.
Friday: Apply Nº14 Conditioning Cream all over. If I feel like being super tan for the weekend I’ll add a layer of Nº32 OVER this. Applying Nº32 over Nº14 is a good way to help blend hard areas like hands, feet, knees, etc. since it creates a barrier between the product and your skin.
Saturday: Apply Nº14 Conditioning Body Cream all over. Add 5-6 drops of Nº12 Bronzing Face Drops either into my moisturizer OR on top my moisturizer depending on how deep I want my color to develop.
Sunday: Exfoliate in the shower with Nº28 to help remove any areas that are starting to fade or look like they need a fresh new coat of color.
As needed: For events or when I want to blur out imperfections or be extra bronze, I layer Nº10 Blurring Body Glow on (which is back in stock very soon!).
REPEAT
This routine has worked really well for me in terms of keeping my color consistent without feeling like I have to go out of my way to tan. That’s the thing about self-tanners in general that I don’t like. I never want to feel like I have to carve out dedicated time just to self-tan. The products I have developed for + Lux Unfiltered are designed to seamlessly integrate into your existing routine so it doesn’t feel like such a chore.
Also, I have spoken to countless people who use the products differently within their routine. Some people use brushes to apply their self-tanner, others mix the product with serums, the possibilities are endless. Would love to hear how any of you guys use + Lux Unfiltered products in your self-care routines!
