35 Beauty Hacks you need to know about
Did anyone else spend their teenage years flipping through every magazine possible? I can remember spending hours making collages, reading through articles, and attempting to follow every beauty tutorial I came across. Since then, I’ve taken my collaging digital (Pinterest obviously) and my tutorials to YouTube, but I still love a good editorial-style beauty list. With the help of my Girls Only Facebook Group, I’ve compiled 38 beauty hacks that are genius. While some come directly from me, there are a ton of new ideas that I’ll be trying ASAP. Remember these are all directly from myself or the community – we’re not doctors or dermatologists here – though I’m intrigued AF. You?
- Place eye cream not only around your eyes but around your mouth as well. This helps with wrinkles that form there.
- Put extra serum, lotion, etc on the back of your hands.
- Sunscreen on your hands, especially if you spend a lot of time driving.
- Shave daily for the ultimate exfoliation and don’t wash your hair often. More about my personal beauty maintenance routine here.
- Try to sleep on your back to avoid face and chest wrinkles. A silk pillowcase can also help with this since it’s more delicate on your skin.
- Apply skincare products on your neck and chest and apply in upward motions.
- Apply Aquaphor to your lips, under eyes, and eyelids for a budget-friendly hydration hack.
- Avoid sitting in the window seat of a plane or pull the blinds down if you do. The UVA rays are stronger when you’re at a higher elevation.
- Put Vaseline on the areas you put your perfume, then spray. It makes the scent last longer.
- Dermaplane followed by lactic acid = skin glows for days!
- Use eyeshadow as a lip color (just mix with lip balm).
- Mix salt + Aquaphor for a cheap lip scrub.
- For less puffiness on your face, do a quick facial massage as you apply your morning skincare products.
- Use an AHA/BHA toner on your underarms and you’ll smell fresh longer. Especially if you use a natural deodorant. I love this one.
- Keep face masks and an ice roller in the fridge for de-puffing. I personally have been loving these for the eye area.
- An easy no-makeup look that still has you feeling put together is to curl your lashes, brush your brows then put a little bit of Vaseline on your lips, brows, and lashes. Holds your brows in place and lashes up while making it look like your eyelashes are naturally gorgeous. Also pinch your cheeks a little to get that nice flushed look.
- Apply 4 tbsp of coconut oil on your hair 1x a week and leave it on for 2 hours.
- Buy yourself a nose trimmer now. It’s much sexier than the alternative.
- Dust a little translucent powder on your lashes before applying mascara and it will give your lashes more volume.
- A few drops of saline solution can revive a dry mascara tube.
- Apply dry shampoo at night and then sleep with hair in a bun. Wait to comb through until the morning so everything absorbs really well.
- If you run out of hair oil, try your BF’s beard oil or a tiny amount of coconut oil at the ends.
- Mix 3:1 foundation and highlighter for an overall glow.
- Do a lip scrub to make your lips look more plump. Personally, I swear by this lip-plumping gloss.
- Multi-mask! You don’t need to put one mask all over your face. Uour forehead might need something very different than your chin and/or cheeks and you want to make sure that you’re putting a product that your skin in that area wants.
- Use your highlighter on your collarbones and shoulders for a sexy, flattering look all over.
- Before going to bed, rub coconut oil or Aquaphor on your feet and then sleep with socks on. In the morning you’ll have the softest feet ever!
- Put your eyelash curler under a blowdry for a couple of seconds for a long-lasting curl.
- Apply eye cream before any serums because they are typically too harsh for that sensitive skin.
- Gently press a cotton pad with makeup remover into your closed eyes at night instead of rubbing / pulling on the delicate skin. Here’s what I use to remove eye makeup.
- If you put on a serum, then moisturizer, then liquid or cream blush and liquid or cream highlighter (while your face is still kind of dewy), it will blend easily and look seamless. Then add powder highlight on top to set it. Ultra glowy and makes it last longer.
- Change your pillowcase daily to avoid acne.
- Gua sha (facial massage tool) before bed! If done properly this can help with lymphatic drainage as well.
- Skip the expensive whitening trays at the dentist and use Crest White Strips every couple weeks instead.
- Before any powder makeup, pop a little of your lipstick of the day to the apples of your cheeks and blend. Set with a powder. Gives a cohesive makeup look every single time!
- Wait 30 seconds between applying skincare products to make sure they absorb.
- Apply this self-tanner (obviously) to set your tan or every few days to build one.
- Wet your Beauty Blender before applying foundation, concealer, etc for a dewy and more natural finish.
