MY HEALTH PRIOIRTIES & Workout Routine

You guys seem to love when I share details on my healthy habits but honestly, nothing I do is groundbreaking. Overall, I keep all the non-healthy stuff in moderation and am consistent with the healthy shit, which you can read more about below.

+ Sleep: If it were up to me, I’d sleep 9-10 hours a night. Obviously kids & life f*ck that sometimes but I do prioritize sleep over events, date nights, etc, and get at least 8 hours most nights. I got the Oura ring last year, which has helped me better understand my sleep and how my daily activities affect it. I notice a difference in my sleep score when I’m following my health priorities & taking time to wind down without a screen. P.S. If you’re curious about whether it’s worth it bc I know it’s $$$, I wrote a full review of the Oura ring here.

+ Movement: I go crazy if I don’t move, so it’s a non-negotiable. I’ve experimented with pretty much every type of workout at this point and feel like I’m currently doing a good mix for my body and goals. Most weeks, this is what I do (each workout one time): strength training / weights with trainer, classical Pilates, incline walk on the treadmill, boxing, and tennis. We also do hikes with the kids on the weekends and I don’t really stop moving during the day, so that helps.

+ Hydration: If there’s one thing I’m consistent with, it’s hydration. I drink water non-stop, especially first thing in the morning. These tumblers are a game changer, TRUST ME.

+ Electrolytes: My trainer is a big fan of LMNT Electrolyte Packs and got me hooked on them a couple of years ago. I CRAVE them now, especially in the morning before caffeine, and drink 1-2 throughout the day. Raspberry is my favorite flavor.

+ Limiting alcohol: Over the last year, I feel like my body has started rejecting alcohol more than ever. I cannot deal with the hangovers so I’ve cut back on drinking a lot. I try to save it for the weekends and stick to a few drinks. If I’m going out out, that’s when the tequila shots come out, but for the most part, I keep it pretty mellow. BTW, these liver aka hangover pills have been a game-changer for me (take 1 per drink up to a few drinks before bed).

+ Healthy diet: I keep a pretty balanced diet because I feel best when I do – plus, I don’t want to be making the kids crap most nights. I only consume junk in moderation. I try to cook 3-4 times per week, order 1-2x per week, and maybe go out for dinner once a week. Cooking at home makes me plan better, which usually results in healthier meals, but on busier weeks, I order a lot more. I have a full blog post on my meal-planning situation. BTW, I have a ton of recipes on the site and in my reels.

+ Protein: My trainer had me up my amount of protein and it keeps me feeling fuller longer. He has me aim for my body weight in protein which I try to get via smoothies (we like this protein powder), meat (except I don’t really eat red meat), yogurt, cottage cheese, Chomps bars when I’m on the go, etc. It’s also helped me to build more muscle, so overall, I’m loving this tweak.

+ Therapy: One of my goals for 2024 was to work on myself, both physically and mentally, and so I started therapy. I wrote a full post about it, but it’s genuinely a health non-negotiable for me.

+ Clean air: Paul is a major researcher (shocker) which honestly I appreciate when it comes to health and wellness. One thing he got strict on a couple years ago was clean, quality air in our home, which is apparently a huge predictor of your overall health, immunity, allergens, and so on. We use this air purifier in our room and run it every night. We also have smaller ones for the kids.

+ Supplements: I don’t go crazy with supplements because most feel like bullshit to me. That being said, I’ve used both AG-1 and this immunity throat spray for a while now and rely on both to stay healthy. I give my kids the throat spray (kids edition) every single day, too. Paul is trying to get me on creatine so lmk if any females have been doing that and your experience.
